Today I and Alfio drove up to Attitash where I successfully rode:
  • Wilfred’s Gawm (what the heck does “Gawm” mean?
  • Illusion
  • Kachina Falls
  • Kachina! – A double black diamond run
  • Myth Maker

and a bunch of blues. Either I’m getting better, or some mountains rate their trails overly high in difficulty. I’ll argue for getting better.
:-D

Yeah, I’m inordinately proud of myself.

I’ve bought a season pass to:

  • Killington
  • Pico
  • Mt. Snow
  • Attitash
  • Sunday River
  • Sugarloaf

I’ve loaded their ski reports into my “My Yahoo” page.

I’ve even begun to scope out a place to grab a midweek session while I’m out in Los Angeles visiting my parents for the winter holidays. Wednesday in Tahoe? I wonder if my cousin Aaron would like a boarding lesson. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s old enough to drive.
;-)

This season, I’m learning how to work the park. Halfpipe & jumps.

Pray for me.

Heh.

Today I hit my first black diamond slope, Upper Rumrunner at Loon Mountain. Twice. Didn’t fall. Alfio was my witness.
Boy, am I inordinantly proud of myself.
Oh, and I hit the terrain park (the little grom’s terrain park) for the first time today. Don’t laugh. I wasn’t the only one there who was over four feet tall. I was, however, distinctive in my tallness.
Anyway, I went off of some little jumps and I fell. Big time.
With the biggest damned grin on my face.

Today is not my birthday (it is two days away) but Ron (who cannot keep a secret) surprised me with a PlayStation 2. We’ll set it up after we get the xmas tree (is it really a yule tree?) set up.

Tomorrow (12/7/03), gravity, friction and water will be my best friends. I’m off to Loon for my first day of snowriding for the season. We’ll see just what 9 months squats, leg presses and calf raises (amongst others) have done for my physical conditioning.

The word “stoked” barely suffices.

You know, I’ve noticed that not many entries in the blog are actually about science fiction. Curious…

By the way, my other best friends tomorrow will be my knee pads. ;-)
